Database Administrator(1):
The Database Administrator will be responsible for installing, upgrading, configuring, and maintaining the worldwide production SQL Server database applications environments. This individual will be responsible for performance management, patch management, configuration management, custom interface design and implementation, application support, and assistance with system administration functionality as it pertains to the Oracle database environment. This position works closely with a team of DBAs to provide primary support for SQL Server environments and secondary support for Oracle eBusiness Suite (Applications) 11i environment. Qualifications include proven skills in complex business environments in support of a critical and highly dynamic business organization. This role requires an individual with confidence and the capability to enable and produce optimum services for its customer base. Excellent communication and listening skills are critical to the success of the candidate. Internal Control Responsibilities: Support Internal Control process which includes understanding, communicating, complying with defined internal controls as well as suggesting and making modifications to the policies, procedures and controls to better match the business. Communicate upward problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions.
Essential Functions:
The ideal candidate will have experience with high levels of accountability, and will have demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to manage workload and achieve results with minimal supervision. Specifically, this position will: Provide troubleshooting assistance to Business System Analysts (BSA) and Infrastructure team members for database issues. Monitor daily database backups; tests restores to ensure backups are sound; analyzes backup efficiency. Administer SQL Server databases from GUI control. Assist in maintaining database and environment security. Apply database and Applications patches. Create database procedural documentation. Follow change control procedures for implementing system changes. Marginal Functions: None at this time.
Qualifications:
An optimal candidate would possess these attributes: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. 2-3 years DBA experience in SQL Server (2000 or higher), Familiarity with Windows Server (version 2003). Familiarity with working in a SOX compliant environment. Experience with SQL Server 2000 replication desired. Familiarity with Oracle (9i or higher), Oracle eBusiness Suite (Applications) (11i), and RedHat Linux (version 4) is a plus. Good team skills working with a small team of DBAs. Flexible attitude – able to take on many different tasks and balance. Able to learn and apply new database technologies quickly. Self-motivating – learning new skills as required. Experience with PVCS or other migration version manager. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite of software tools. Proven record of analyzing complex problems to come to a straightforward solution. Experience with large multifaceted companies and divisions desired. Proven troubleshooting, root cause analysis and solutions design. Strong communication and documentation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with users at remote locations.
